One calm day in Southeastern Nebraska, the phrase, “I have an idea!” was uttered. Normally this leads to some explosion in quilty creativity, but this particular time it was more than that: it was the idea that the dynamic mother-daughter duo of Anneliese Johnson and Brenda Reid should go into the quilting business together under the name Eye Candy Quilts.
Anneliese:
When I was three, I stayed in my mom’s sewing room sewing buttons onto leftover fabric. Then when I got older, I wanted to be a fashion designer. I even went to college to learn how to be one. But that was dull. Quilts are much more exciting.
Brenda:
I’ve lived all over the United States and in Western Europe. My love of history grew with each move and each new place to explore. It fascinated me how people lived and the clothing from different periods. I learned how people crafted and created with textiles as part of their everyday life; everyday life included quilting for them, as it does now for me.
